Knowing how much first impressions matter in a brand + client relationship, Kelsey and I worked together to design a 10-page digital investment guide for her to present to her clients. Pages included an introduction to Kelsey, a detailed description of what experience brides + grooms can expect, investment and package options, FAQs, sample portfolio of her work, and a CTA for the next step in their booking process.

Kelsey's finished brand suite included 5 custom logo configurations, 1 hand-illustrated icon, 1 calligraphy tagline, and 6 submark configurations. With these design files, Kelsey was equipped to create a 360° brand experience for her clientele—such as client flash drives (seen in this photo), wooden heirloom photo boxes, and linen photo books.

Create a timeless suite of brand elements that can be used to personalize her client experience.

When choosing an illustrated motif for Kelsey's brand, rosemary quickly came to mind. According to Floriography,  rosemary is an herb strongly connected to rituals of love and marriage—symbolic of faithfulness, devotion, and remembrance. It is also used by herbalists as a tonic in cases of overwhelm. I hand-illustrated a sprig of rosemary and wove it throughout Kelsey's brand suite.

Tell a meaningful story.

A sense of calm was captured in the pairing of a classic serif font with a clean + modern san serif font. In addition, a dash of elegance was added with Kelsey's tagline in fine calligraphy. Simplicity and clean lines are the foundation for her brand, allowing the photographs to shine for themselves.

Capture the feelings of ease and elegance portrayed in Kelsey's photographs.

When designing her brand, I had a few main objectives: capture the feelings of ease and elegance portrayed in Kelsey's photographs, tell a meaningful story, and create a timeless suite of brand elements that can be used to personalize her client experience.

Project scope:

"We each have specific abilities that allow us to serve others well, and that is where I find my passion for wedding photography. I am confident in my ability to help you feel at ease and to allow you to relax in the knowledge that every important moment (and the ones in between) will be beautifully captured."

In kelsey's words:

Kelsey Nelson is a North Carolina photographer with a background in journalism. Her love of these two pursuits collided when she shot her first wedding—finding a new passion for capturing a couple's love story and emotions through photographs.

Brand identity

As part of her deliverables, we designed + managed the production of a set of bespoke letter-pressed stationery and business cards. I selected a luxe double-thick cotton paper perfect for blind embossing her rosemary motif.

"The best decision I made for my business this year"

Working with Alexa was hands down the best decision I made for my business this year. I wanted the heart and purpose behind my business to be visible, and Alexa made that happen. She sat down with me and asked all the right questions, saw what I wanted my business to be, and translated that into a clear and timeless brand that is 100% me. I’m now so proud to hand over my business card, to send a handwritten note, to email someone my investment guide—everything she created is perfectly fitting and beautiful.
